Plymouth Marjon University (also known as 'Marjon') is a small specialist university with around 2,500 students, focused on education, sport, health, and the arts. Founded in 1840 as a teacher training college, it gained university status in 2013. The compact Plymouth campus offers a strong community feel. It's particularly well-known for sports science (with on-site sports facilities) and teacher training.
