1. The Service

CourseOptions is a course discovery and comparison platform. We collate data from public sources — including UCAS, HESA, the National Student Survey, the Research Excellence Framework, and information published by universities themselves — and present it in a structured way so prospective students can compare programmes, institutions, and scholarships.

We do not represent any university or admissions service. The Service does not constitute admissions or immigration advice; it is a research and comparison tool.

2. Accounts

Some features of the Service require an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for any activity that takes place under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.

You may create an account only if you are at least 16 years old. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, or extract data in bulk except through a published API or with our written permission.
• Resell, redistribute, or otherwise commercialise data obtained from the Service.
• Interfere with the operation of the Service, including via automated submissions, brute-force attacks, or denial-of-service attempts.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with one.
• Use the Service to publish defamatory, infringing, or otherwise unlawful content.

4. Accuracy of information

We make reasonable efforts to keep information on the Service accurate and current. However, tuition fees, intake dates, entry requirements, and other course details change frequently and are ultimately set by each university. Always confirm course details with the university directly before making admissions, financial, or visa decisions. We are not liable for errors or omissions in third-party data.

5. Intellectual property

The Service's software, design, methodology documents, editorial content, and the CourseOptions name and logo are owned by Course Options Ltd. The CO Ranking dataset and methodology are published under the Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0 licence — you may redistribute and adapt them with attribution. All other content is reserved.

Course, university, and scholarship information is drawn from public sources whose owners retain their respective rights.

6. Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Course Options Ltd will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising under these terms will not exceed £100.

8. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if you violate these terms, with reasonable notice except where immediate action is needed to protect the Service or other users.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or a banner on the site at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
