Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 June 2027

CourseOptions (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a course discovery and comparison platform operated by Course Options Ltd. This policy explains what information we collect when you use courseoptions.com, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data. By using the service you agree to the terms set out here.

Information we collect

  • Account information you provide when you create an account: name, email address, country of residence, qualification level.
  • Application preferences you save while comparing courses and universities (saved courses, comparison sets, filter selections).
  • Usage data collected automatically: pages visited, time spent, search queries, device and browser type, approximate location derived from IP address.
  • Cookies and similar technologies for session management, analytics, and remembering your region preference. You can refuse cookies through your browser settings or our consent manager.

How we use your information

  • To provide and improve the course discovery and comparison features.
  • To personalise recommendations based on your saved interests.
  • To send service emails (account confirmations, password resets, deadline reminders for courses you have saved).
  • To produce aggregated analytics about how the platform is used so we can prioritise improvements.
  • To respond to enquiries you send us.

Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers strictly necessary to operate the platform — hosting, analytics, email delivery, content delivery network — and only the minimum data required for each. All third-party processors are bound by data processing agreements and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CourseOptions, our users, or others.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccuracies, to request deletion, to object to processing, and to receive a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@courseoptions.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Data retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or regulatory reasons. Aggregated and anonymised data may be retained indefinitely.

International transfers

Our services are hosted within the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA — for example to an analytics provider in the United States — we rely on UK International Data Transfer Agreements or other appropriate safeguards.

Children

CourseOptions is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a child, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or a banner on the site at least 30 days before they take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
