Course Overview

Offered by Lancaster University, the PhD Philosophy provides a comprehensive postgraduate education in history, philosophy, and theology. Based in Lancaster, England, this programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, with a 3-year full-time and part-time structure. Philosophy at Lancaster is pluralistic in approach and, where possible, we are open to engagement and collaboration with other disciplines and institutions. We offer supervision across a broad range of philosophical subjects, and currently have academic colleagues whose areas of research include philosophy of mind and psychology, theoretical and applied ethics, post-Kantian European philosophy, and bioethics. We enjoy good working relationships with related departments and research centres, and joint supervision arrangements are sometimes possible. A minimum ielts score of 7.0 is required for admission.
