In the second year, the focus shifts to enhancing practical and research skills and gaining a more profound scientific understanding of various environmental issues. The third year offers you the flexibility to either specialise in a specific area or maintain a broad focus, while continuing to build on the essential skills and techniques of environmental science and physical geography. The year culminates in an independent research project, giving you the opportunity to apply your acquired techniques and explore a topic of your choice. In your final year, you will design and conduct an in-depth extended research project, including formulating a complete research strategy and producing a grant proposal. During this time you will develop advanced independent technical and analytical skills through hypothesis-driven investigation, under the guidance of an academic supervisor and the wider research team. **About Keele** Keele University was established in 1949 by the former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University.
