BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science

The Paramedic Science course at the University of Cumbria, UK introduces students to the challenges and rewards of a career as a paramedic. This undergraduate course equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage a range of emergency situations, from non-life threatening conditions to major incident and trauma management. Course Content: The course is designed to provide students with a critical understanding of Paramedic Science. This includes theory and practice, all taught by a team of experienced paramedics. Students will learn about the principles of clinical practice, underpinning science, and professional practice for paramedics. Key Modules: The key modules covered in this course include Biology and Lifespan Development, Foundations of Clinical Practice, Applied Clinical Skills, Understanding Research and Evidence-Based Practice, Advanced and Complex Situations, and Major Incident and Trauma Management. Accreditations: The course is validated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the College of Paramedics, ensuring that the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date with current professional practice.Future Careers: Upon graduation, students can pursue a career in paramedicine. Once registered as a paramedic with the HCPC, they have the option to go into frontline ambulance service, the military, the offshore industry, remote medicine or into a postgraduate study that can lead to advanced roles in urgent and emergency care.
