MA The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas

The MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania, and Americas at the University of East Anglia is a one-year, full-time course that offers an in-depth exploration of Indigenous Art. The course invites students to delve into the unique visual cultures of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas and the critical issues that surround them.Course Content: This program offers a holistic and thorough investigation of the indigenous arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Topics such as the anthropology of art, exhibitionary practices, and art-world infrastructures are included in the studies. Moreover, it encourages a critical understanding of these arts' historicisation and the profound impact of colonialism, while also allowing for an exploration of contemporary indigenous arts. Key Modules: Key modules on this course include Critical Themes in the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, Exhibition Project, MA Dissertation, and Concepts and Methods for the Art and/or Archaeology of Africa, Oceania and the Americas. Future Careers: Graduates from this program can expect to go on in various career paths. These include museum and auction house curators, art dealers, consultants, educators, and researchers.
