The MA International Relations programme at the University of East Anglia is a comprehensive one-year-full-time/ two-year part time course that allows students to grasp the essence of International Relations theory, and apply it to real world scenarios. Built on the foundational aspects of International Relations, the course combines theory-building and empirical research to bring forth the significance of the subject in modern times. Course Content: The course is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of key issues and debates in international relations theory. It pays special emphasis on the historical development of the international system, issues of conflict and cooperation, and on theories of international governance. Modules are focussed on developing research skills, understanding global security, understanding foreign policies, inter alia. Key Modules: Compulsory modules in this course include: Understanding International Relations; Global Security; Contemporary Issues in International Relations; Foreign Policy Analysis; and Research Skills. Optional modules: Geopolitics, Grand Strategy & Religion; Gender & Power; Globalisation, Democracy and Development; Human Rights & the International Order; Japan & the Re-making of Asia Pacific; US Foreign Policy; and International Relations of the Middle East. Future Careers: After completing this course, students have a wide range of career opportunities available to them in non-governmental organizations, international organizations, civil service, media, and education.
