The BA History of Art and Literature at the University of East Anglia (UEA) is a unique combined honours program that offers students the opportunity to study literature and visual culture together. This 3-year undergraduate course strives to deepen understanding of these intertwined cultural narratives, investigating this through compelling topics in the history of ideas, philosophy, politics, and aesthetics.Course Content: This combined honours degree explores literary texts within various historical contexts while also investigating works of art from different cultures and epochs, ‘reading’ them critically much in the way that texts are read. Students will develop skills in writing conscientiously, thinking creatively and critically to analyse the intertwining histories of literature, fine art, cinema, and the mass media.Key Modules: The modules cover the core requirements of both literary study and art history, ranging from medieval to contemporary periods. Modules include 'The Shock of the New: Modernity and the Modernisms of American Culture', 'Writing Texts', 'Art in Context', 'Prison Literature' and 'Reading Texts'.Accreditations: N/A Future Careers: Students graduating from this course develop a wide range of skills that are highly valued by employers.
