BA (Hons) History and Politics

The BA in History and Politics course offered by the University of East Anglia brings together two complementary fields. Students will have the opportunity to understand the world from both a historical and a political perspective thereby learning how power and governance have been distributed in societies over time, how institutions and policies are made, and how decision-making is influenced by historical processes. Course Content: The course is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of key periods and themes in British, European, and World history, and contemporary political theory and international relations. Students will study a wide range of historical periods, delve into politics and international relations, as well as have the option to study American, Asian, and modern European languages.Key Modules: Some of the key modules include Introduction to Contemporary Politics, Ideas and Ideologies, Pride and Prejudices: Everyday History in Britain, 1780-1950, Empire and Aftermath: British Foreign Policy from Palmerston to Blair, Power, Freedom, and the State, and The Modern Middle East: 1908 to the present among others.Future Careers: The course's interdisciplinary nature prepares students for a range of careers. Graduates can pursue roles in fields such as politics, public services, teaching, journalism, law, and the heritage sector.
