BA (Hons) Film and Television Studies

The BA Film and Television Studies course at the University of East Anglia takes students through an extensive exploration of film and television, providing a deep understanding of its historical, practical, and critical aspects. This is a comprehensive program, which combines the study of world cinema, British cinema from its beginnings through to the present day, and American cinema from Hollywood to the margins.Course Content: The 3-year full-time course offers a study of the close relationship between film and television. Students will develop in-depth knowledge of film and television histories, cultures, industries, and audiences. The course focuses on both practical and theoretical perspectives, enabling students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject. The course provides an introduction to film studies, introduction to television studies, global cinema, Hollywood cinema, and the study of film industry and movie-making. Key Modules: Some of the key modules that the students will study include Understanding Hollywood, Constructing Reality: Social Documentary Film and Television, Film Theory, Analysis, and Reading, Film History, African American Cinema, and Global Hollywood among many others.Future Careers: Upon graduation, students may pursue various roles in the television and film industry like researcher, screenwriter, programme maker, independent producer, distribution, financing, film journalism, or publicity.
