BA (Hons) English Literature with Creative Writing

The BA English Literature with Creative Writing course offered by the University of East Anglia (UEA) is a 3-year undergraduate program dedicated to cultivating passion for literature and enhancing creative writing skills. Throughout the course, students examine and analyse a wide range of literary texts from different centuries and continents, while simultaneously developing their own writing style across several genres.Course Content: The study material is divided into a range of comprehensive modules that allow students to study literary texts from medieval period through the renaissance, to romantic, Victorian, modernist and contemporary periods. The modules also cover different continents, from Europe to North America and beyond. While being immersed in the reading, students also undertake modules that nurture their creative writing talent. They practice writing poetry, prose fiction, and drama.Key Modules: Some of the key modules of the curriculum include Critical Theory and Practice, Reading Texts: Literary Theory, Creative Writing: Prose Fiction, and The Writing of Poetry. In the final year, students undertake a long Creative Writing Project in the genre of their choice.Future Careers: The English Literature with Creative Writing degree equips students with skills and knowledge preferred in a wide range of professions. Graduates can pursue careers in sectors such as publishing, journalism, public relations, teaching, advertising, and arts administration among others.
