The Food Safety Innovation MSc at UCLan is a multidisciplinary course, which focuses on emerging issues within the global food supply chain and the innovative solutions being developed to combat these problems. This course is aimed at graduates wanting to acquire an understanding of the issues related to food safety, and the scientific, industry and management skills necessary to succeed in this rapidly expanding area. Course Content: The course covers subjects pertaining to microbiology within the food chain, innovative food processing technologies, food safety and quality management, and food legislation. It also includes a significant research element where students will have to complete a product development activity or a workplace investigation project.Key Modules: Some of the key studied modules include Risk Analysis in the Food Chain, Food Safety and Quality Management, Global Food Legislation, and Epigenetics, Nutrigenomics and Personalised Nutrition. Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) and it incorporates the Food Safety Modernization Act (FDA, USA 2011).Future Careers: Graduates from the Food Safety Innovation MSc course are equipped to take up management roles in food manufacturing, food product development, quality assurance, food safety management, and food legislation enforcement.
