The BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences course at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) offers an integrated systems-based approach combined with patient-focused clinical scenarios, that aligns with the modern delivery of medical education. This course boasts of a high level of practical work which aims to equip students with a variety of laboratory and scientific skills.Course Content: This course content includes a deep understanding of human biology, physiology, biochemistry, immunology, pharmacology, and microbiology. In addition, students can develop an understanding of the causes and treatments of disease through the study of genetics, pathology and the study of the science underlying the diagnosis of disease.Key Modules: The key modules of this course are Cell Biology and Physiology, Professional Practice, Clinical Skills, Diagnostic Techniques in Pathology, Immunology, Metabolic Biochemistry, Neuropharmacology, and Independent Medical Sciences Project among others.Accreditations: Students undertaking the BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences programme at UCLan will be eligible for graduate membership of the Royal Society of Biology upon graduation.Future Careers: Graduates from this course may pursue a career in Biomedical Science, Clinical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology, Parasitology, Virology, Cytology, Immunology, Histology, Haematology, and Cancer studies, among others.
