BSc (Hons) Clinical Dental Technology

The Clinical Dental Technology BSc course at University of Central Lancashire is a comprehensive program aimed at providing students the opportunity to develop the technical, diagnostic and clinical skills required to design, manufacture and fit appliances and prostheses for dental patients. The course is designed to produce graduates who have a deep theoretical understanding and advanced practical skills in clinical dental technology.Course Content: The course involves the study of the basic dental sciences, dental biomaterials science, together with dental laboratory and clinical techniques. Additionally, students will learn the principles of diagnosis and treatment planning, patient management and the professional dynamics of working within the multiskilled dental team. Key Modules: Some of the key modules of this course include: Clinical Dental Technology, Clinical Dentistry for Dental Technologists, Dental Biomaterials Science, and Research Methodology.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the General Dental Council (GDC) and is one of only four in the UK which includes direct patient contact and the ability to qualify as a Clinical Dental Technician (CDT).Future Careers: Upon graduation, students can pursue a career as clinical dental technicians, working in a variety of settings including hospital, community dental services, and the dental industry.
