The BA (Hons) Youth Work and Community Practice is a degree program offered by the University of Central Lancashire. It is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to make a significant impact on communities and work effectively with young people. The course focuses on critical perspectives on youth work and community practices, empowerment philosophy, and working towards social justice.Course Content: The course provides a mixture of practical and academic study. Students will study the relationship between theory and practice, explore contemporary issues which confront youth work and community practice, and learn about management and leadership within the sector. There is also an optional module in the third year, which allows students to learn about youth work and community practice in an international context.Key Modules: The course includes key modules such as Working with Communities, Research Methods, Youth Justice and Safeguarding in Practice, Working in Partnership, Ethics and Values in Practice, Enhanced Youth Work Practice, and others.Accreditations: The course is validated by the National Youth Agency (NYA) for the Professional Statutory Regulatory Body (PSRB) standards in Youth Work training. Students will also gain a Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) professional qualification in youth work.Future Careers: Graduates from this course have progressed into careers in a range of fields such as youth work, community development, health and social care sector, charities, schools and colleges, and local authorities.
