BA (Hons) Sports Journalism

The Sports Journalism BA at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is a practical and theoretically robust program designed to prepare students for a career in sports journalism. It offers intensified training in the key skills needed to work in the modern sports industry as a journalist or widely skilled sports media specialist. Course Content: The course combines practical sports journalism skills, such as news writing, interviewing, podcasting, vlogging, documentary making and website production, with theoretical modules. Students are required to complete a highly practical and intense sports journalism project where they will highlight their advanced sports journalism skills to potential employers.Key Modules: Some of the key modules students will study include Sport on TV, Advanced Sports Reporting, Sports Journalist in the Digital Age, and Global Sports Media. Others include Journalism in Context and Journalism, Sport and Society.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC).Future Careers: After graduation, students go onto work in various roles across the sports media industry.
