BA (Hons) English Literature

The BA English Literature course at the University of Central Lancashire is a three-year program designed to allow students to delve into a wide range of English Literature while also providing them an opportunity to pursue their interest in creative or professional writing. This provides the foundation for students to build skills such as critical thinking and communication in addition to a deep understanding of literary and cultural history.Course Content: The curriculum of this course has been consciously designed to equip students with a sound knowledge of English Literature right from its origins to the current day postmodernism. The course offers a multitude of optional modules that include areas such as women’s writing, horror film, and fiction, nature writing, science fiction, children’s literature, fairy tales, graphic novels, and much more.Key Modules: The core modules include Critical Reading & Writing, Investigating Victorian Literature, Literary Theory & Criticism, Researching English Literature, Independent Research Project, and Individual Study. Students also have the choice to pick from optional modules that cover diverse topics.Accreditations: This course is recognized by the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE), a mark of the program's quality and the standards of practice within the field of creative writing.Future Careers: Graduates from this course have found employment in sectors like teaching, journalism, publishing, marketing, arts administration, PR, design, and management.
