The BA (Hons) English and Modern Language course from the University of Central Lancashire strikes a perfect balance between the study and appreciation of English literature and the understanding and articulation of a modern foreign language. The course aims to expand the students' knowledge in classic and contemporary literature, allowing a comprehensive understanding of texts from various periods. In parallel, students also learn a modern language of their choice, adding a cutting-edge employability feature to their overall knowledge.Course Content: The course is structured over a three-year study period. The English Literature section of the course allows the exploration of classic works by Shakespeare, Victorian literature, modernist texts of the early twentieth century, and contemporary texts. In the Modern Language section, students have the choice between French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish. Language modules equip students with a thorough understanding of the language in both written and oral formats.
