The British Sign Language/Deaf Studies BA at the University of Central Lancashire is a unique course that provides a comprehensive approach towards understanding and learning British Sign Language and Deaf studies. It is a three-year course offered full-time and allows students to acquire high-level language skills and a deep understanding of the cultural, social, and linguistic aspects of deaf people and their communities.Course Content: The course comprises an in-depth study of sign language linguistics, interpreting and translation theory, deaf history, sociology, and contemporary issues in the deaf community. Students not only learn the language but also gain an understanding of the social, cultural, and political aspects of the deaf world. The course uses a range of teaching methods including classroom teaching, online activities, group work, and self-study.
