The BA (Hons) in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography course at the University of Gloucestershire is a vibrant, innovative program that equips students with the critical and professional skills required to work within the contemporary field of global journalism and documentary storytelling. It focuses on innovative narratives that will enable graduates to navigate their way dynamically through the exciting landscape of traditional and emerging media forms.Course Content: The course is designed around three key elements: Understanding the News, Understanding Documentary, and Interpreting and Navigating the professional world of the image-making industries. It immerses students in the practice of contemporary News study, the history and aesthetic of Documentary and Photojournalism.Key Modules: Key modules in this course are Year 1:- Writing for Journalists, Visual Culture, Media Landscapes, Photojournalism 1, Professional Practice, and Documentary and Photojournalism slideshow; Year 2:- Broadcast Journalism, Specialist Journalism, Multimedia Journalism, Documentary and photojournalism film, Professional Work Experience, and Developing a Documentary strategy; Final Year:- Advanced Documentary, Advanced Project, Advanced Multimedia Journalism, Journalism in Context, Critical Research, and Professional Portfolio.Accreditations: The university has two accreditations by the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) and the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC).Future Careers: Graduates can go on to careers in Photojournalism, Picture Editing, Digital and Social Media content producing, Documentary Photography or Filmmaking, or Media Production.
