BA (Hons) English Literature

The BA English Literature course, run by the University of Gloucestershire, is designed to nurture passionate readers and future writers. Students will investigate all forms of literature from medieval through to contemporary works. Through research, critique and creative writing, learners will explore how literature shapes and is shaped by the world.Course Content: The course encompasses an array of literary works and introduces students to multiple perspectives of studying literature. They study all forms, from the sonnet cycle to the graphic novel, and from the Renaissance to the contemporary period. Along with regular course modules, students work on a range of projects, such as creating a graphic novel, starting a small press, creating an online magazine, making a film, launching a poetry anthology, writing a school play, or devising a walking tour.Key Modules: Some of the key modules include ‘Writing and Identity’, ‘Writing and Place’, ‘Writing and Community’, ‘Writing and the World’, ‘Culture and Conflict’ and ‘Texts in Time’. In the final year, students will be able to choose from a range of in-depth modules spotlighting their passion.
