The Genomic Medicine MSc is a program provided by the University of Birmingham. This course offers an opportunity for health care professionals to explore the discipline of Genomic Medicine and is structured to equip students with the knowledge and skills to utilize genomic approaches in patient treatments. Course Content: The Genomic Medicine MSc covers a broad range of topics including genomic and molecular medicine, scientific research skills, human genetics and genomics, integrative genomics and bioinformatics, molecular pathology of cancer and model systems, pharmacogenomics and personalized healthcare, cardiovascular genomics, monogenic diseases, complex diseases, common and rare inherited diseases, and the application of genomics in infectious disease.Key Modules: The course is divided into core and optional modules. The core modules are Genomic Techniques and Bioinformatics, Medical Genomics, Interpretation and Clinical Application of Genomic Data, and Ethics in Genomics (PGDip only). Optional modules include Cancer Genomics, Pharmaco-genomics, Cardiovascular Genomics and Monogenic Diseases, and Genomics of Common and Rare Inherited Diseases.Accreditations: The Genomic Medicine MSc is part of the suite of Birmingham Genomic Medicine Programmes which are endorsed by Health Education England (HEE) Genomics Education Programme. This course offers a 2-week Clinical Bioinformatics attachment available to students that are NHS employees.Future Careers: After completing this course, students may potentially pursue careers in domains such as genomics, healthcare, medical research, or further specialized study.
