MA Creative Writing

The Creative Writing MA program at Birmingham University is designed to help you diagnose your own writing, identify your unique capabilities, develop your writing and editing skills, and establish a strong creative discipline. This course combines traditional and innovative methods to inspire imaginative writing whilst also teaching practical work skills for aspiring writers, editors, and publishers. Course Content: This full-time, one-year MA program provides comprehensive training in creative writing, focusing on understanding and applying creative storytelling, writing techniques, style innovation, and nurturing creativity. Key Modules: The course consists of two core modules, The Writer's Workshop (for both the Autumn and Spring terms) and the Creative Writing Portfolio (a summer dissertation module). Elective modules on covered topics include: Poetry; Fiction; Playwriting or Screenwriting; and Teaching Writing. Accreditations: The program is accredited by the University of Birmingham. Future Careers: The MA Creative Writing will give an outstanding base for those aiming to begin a professional career in creative writing including roles in publishing, advertising, marketing, and professional writing.
