BSc Physics, Particle Physics & Cosmology

The Physics with Particle Physics and Cosmology BSc course at the University of Birmingham offers students the opportunity to combine their interests in the fundamental particles and forces of nature with the study of the Universe on the largest scales. Students will learn the concepts and theories of advanced physics as they are applied in the search for answers to the Universe’s deepest mysteries.Course Content: The course will develop your understanding of the key themes of physics such as quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and relativity. It also explores the exotic world of particle physics and the immense Universe of cosmology. In the third year, students will undertake a research project, allowing them to apply their skills and knowledge to a problem at the frontiers of physics research. Key Modules: Some of the core modules include Quantum Mechanics and its Applications, Electromagnetic Theory and Optics, Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics, Relativity and Electromagnetism, Nuclear and Particle Physics, Observational Astronomy and Cosmology, and Mathematical Methods for Physicists.Accreditations: The Physics with Particle Physics and Cosmology BSc course at the University of Birmingham is accredited by the Institute of Physics (IOP).
