The English and Creative Writing undergraduate course offered at the University of Birmingham enables students to study all periods of literature in English, from the Anglo-Saxon period to the 21st century. This course allows students to divide their time equally between the two halves of their degree. The Creative Writing half engages students in a range of forms and methods, preparing them for the industry. Course Content: The course is divided into multiple modules across three years. In the first year, students will gain foundational skills in literary and cultural analysis and explore a range of texts from different periods and cultures. In the second year, students can focus on the genres, periods and topics that interest them the most, alongside core modules. The third year allows students to specialize further, with the opportunity to write a dissertation on a topic of their choice.
