MSc Polymers and Composites

The Polymers and Composites MSc(Eng) course at the University of Sheffield encompasses both practical and theoretical study of the key areas of polymer and composites science and engineering. Course Content: The course covers the science and engineering of polymers and composites and how they can be used in various fields such as transport, packaging, bio-medicine, and energy. It involves studying the relationships between structure and properties, as well as the methods of synthesising and processing the materials. Students will also undertake a laboratory project under the guidance of a member of academic staff and a research project.Key Modules: The course includes key modules like Materials for the Chemical Industry, Nanomaterials, Polymer Properties, Polymers and Composites, Polymers for Applications, and Research Project.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) for meeting, in part, the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer status. It is also recognised for its quality by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS)Future Careers: Graduates from the course can have career options in a range of industries including polymers, composites, chemicals, materials, semiconductors, and other types of manufacturing.
