The Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Placement Year MEng course is offered by the University of Sheffield. This course enables students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, during the one-year placement, in addition to acquiring in-depth knowledge in core engineering principles and specialized areas. Course Content: The Mechanical Engineering course curriculum encompasses fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, solid mechanics, and the role of materials in design. The degree also covers aspects of accounting, law, supply chain management, and business strategy, enabling students to understand the role of engineers in industry. The inclusion of an industrial placement year facilitates real-world experiences in applying knowledge and driving innovation. Key Modules: The program includes modules on Mathematics, Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics, and Design and Manufacture. The third year includes a group project where students work to solve a real industrial problem. Accreditations: This undergraduate course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and can meet, in part, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer.Future Careers: This course equips students with skills applicable to a range of careers in industries such as manufacturing, energy, automotive and transport, robotics, and aerospace, among others. The industrial placement year strengthens their employability prospects by providing hands-on experience and enhancing their understanding of mechanical engineering in a real-world context.
