The Zoology with Placement Year MBIoLSci at the University of Sheffield is an advanced study program that explores the animal kingdom and the mechanisms that conduct behavior, evolution, physiology, and the role of animals in ecosystems. It is a four-year full-time study program commencing in September each year.Course Content: During the initial two years of this course, students learn core biosciences subjects, including molecular biology, genetics, physiology, and ecology. For the third year, students undertake a research placement to gain practical experience and a deeper understanding of zoology. The fieldwork involves residentials in the Peak District, and exotic trips further afield. The final year focuses on research-based training, consisting of an extensive research project and advanced research skills.Key Modules: There are several key modules throughout this course including Cellular and Developmental Biology, Integrative Animal Biology, Evolution, Animal Physiology, Conservation and Communities, and Invertebrate Zoology.Accreditations: The program is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist.Future Careers: Graduates of the Zoology with Placement Year MBIolSci have diverse job opportunities.
