MA Political Theory

The Political Theory MA at the University of Sheffield is a full-time, one year course that allows students to examine classic and contemporary debates within political theory and undertake their own research. It is a post-graduate course that exposes students to core theoretical debates about the nature of politics and the conceptual and methodological debates surrounding it.Course Content: The course content includes areas such as History of Political Thought, Theories of Justice, Global Justice and International Political Theory, and Democracy and its Disorders where students will develop an advanced understanding of liberal democracy and its critics, as well as recent core literature on the democratic ideal. In addition, students will explore conceptual and methodological debates in political theory and philosophy, and get to undertake independent research on a chosen political theory topic through the dissertation module.Key Modules: Some of the crucial modules in the course include Politics Dissertation, Politics General Research Seminar (PGRS), International Political Theory, Theories of International Relations, and Political Philosophy Research Seminar which allows the students to delve deeper into the world of political theory.Accreditations: Information not found.Future Careers: Students graduating from the Political Theory MA have the potential for a range of future career paths and opportunities.
