MA Historical Research

The Historical Research MA from the University of Sheffield is a taught postgraduate course that equips students with essential skills necessary for historical research and complements the study of history with an emphasis on ethos and methodology. The course creates a foundation for potential progression to PhD or a first step towards a career in the heritage sector, teaching, public service, and other related fields.Course Content: Over the course of one year, students will engage in both core and optional modules, undertake a dissertation, and participate in a range of skills training. Students will study areas such as Historical Contexts & Approaches, Research Presentation, and Historic Environment.Key Modules: The historical research course includes key modules such as Historical Research: Skills & Sources, and Research Methods in History. In addition, students will also have an opportunity to choose from modules that cover a broad range of topics, depending on their interests.Future Careers: The course prepares students for a wide range of careers.
