BDSDental Surgery

The Dental Surgery BDS course at the University of Sheffield is structured to equip students with practical skills while also broadening their understanding of the basic health sciences. Students will receive comprehensive training in all aspects of dentistry and get the opportunity to interact and learn from specialists. The course extends over five years and allows students to understand, appreciate, and ultimately contribute to the growing body of knowledge in dental science.Course Content: The program includes studying basic medical sciences in Year 1. From Year 2, students will be introduced to more complex areas of the study, including patient management and all aspects of restorative, orthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, paediatric dentistry, and prosthodontics. In Year 3, the course will diversify its focus towards the fields of oral medicine, oral pathology, oral microbiology, dental public health, oral health, and behavioral science.
