The Landscape Architecture MLA program offered at the University of Sheffield is aimed at students who are passionate about structures and scenery in the environment. It's a two-year program, where students begin with an intensive 12-week block where they are introduced to landscape architecture. There are studio days, field trips, and independent study. In the second semester, options are climate change and landscape architecture, in-depth research and advanced research methods before starting a large research project.Course Content: The course combines compulsory and optional modules allowing students to specialize in their study route. The first semester introduces students to landscape architecture. A compulsory studio project advanced landscape design research module is conducted throughout the year. Key Modules: Some of the key modules in the program include Landscape Architecture Design, Advanced Landscape Design, and Research (ALDR), Urban Ecological Design and Planning, Landscape Architecture Dissertation and Cultural Space and the Public Realm. Optional modules include environment and infrastructure, the sustainable development of cities, climate change, and landscape architecture.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Landscape Institute and recognized by the International Federation of Landscape Architects.Future Careers: Graduates from this course have gone on to work in a range of occupations including landscape architects, urban designers, landscape and urban researchers, and consultants.
