BA Journalism Studies

The Journalism Studies BA at the University of Sheffield is a comprehensive program offering a mix of practical and theoretical studies that equip students with the journalistic skills needed in the digital era. It explores the role of journalism in society, its functions, and its relationship with the world of politics and public and corporate communication. The course also examines journalism's legal and ethical frameworks. Course Content: The program content includes learning about news reporting, video and audio production, feature writing, and online journalism. In addition, students have the opportunity to study media law, public affairs, shorthand, and research methods. By the final year, students devise their own journalistic project and can choose from a diverse range of modules for further studies. Key Modules: Some of the core modules are: Journalism Portfolio, Content Creation, and Specialist Journalism. Optional modules include – Writing for Magazines, Investigative Reporting, and Journalism Politics and Society. Accreditations: This course is accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), the Professional Publishers Association (PPA), and the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC). Future Careers: Upon completion of this BA, students can pursue a wide range of careers in journalism and related fields.
