The Japanese Studies and History BA at the University of Sheffield is a dual honours degree that combines the study of Japan and its language with a flexible history curriculum. This degree provides a thorough understanding of Japanese culture and history, while also enabling students to develop high-level Japanese language skills. Course Content: During the first two years of the course, students gain a thorough grounding in Modern Standard Japanese, both spoken and written. A core part of the course includes one year of study at a Japanese university where students will follow an approved course of study in their humanities and social science subject. The final year of the course allows students to support their language learning with a selection of Japan-related topics. Key Modules: Some of the core modules include "Practical Language - Japanese", "Understanding Japan: Culture and Society", "Introduction to East Asian Civilisations" and "Presenting the Past".
