MA Mental Health in Children and Young People

The Mental Health in Children and Young People is a Master's level course offered by Leeds Trinity University. This course is designed for professionals who work with children and young people and cope with mental health issues, providing them with the knowledge, understanding, and skills necessary to improve their mental health service delivery. The course is delivered part-time and can be completed in two to three years. Course Content: The course is split into seven modules, each designed to equip the learner with different competencies. It starts with an introduction to child and adolescent mental health, followed by two modules: 'Early Intervention in Psychosis' and 'Eating Disorders'. These initial modules provide detailed knowledge about the causes, diagnosis, treatments and prevention techniques of various mental disorders in children and adolescents. The 'Clinical Skills and Therapeutic Interventions in Child and Adolescent Mental Health' module teaches methods of developing therapeutic relationships with young people and their families and provides critical knowledge about evidence-based clinical practice. The 'Service Development and Leadership' module is designed to enhance leadership skills and promote service development in child and adolescent mental health services.
