The MSc Zoo and Aquarium Conservation Biology course at the University of Plymouth is a unique and challenging program designed to equip students with the skills needed for a successful career in the rapidly expanding global zoo and aquarium industry. It allows students to learn alongside industry professionals, investigate complex issues right at the cutting edge, and develop a rich breadth of skills.Course Content: This course is delivered in three stages. During stage 1, you will cover core modules in biological sciences, forging an understanding of the underpinning processes of conservation biology. Stage 2 will cover applied zoo and aquarium science, and there is an opportunity to undertake an extended, in-depth research project in stage 3, typically in collaboration with a UK or international zoo or aquarium.Key Modules: The key modules in this course are Evolution and Zoo Biology, Applied Zoo and Aquarium Science, Zoo and Aquarium Design and Function, Research Skills for Zoo and Aquarium Science, UK Zoo and Aquarium Science: Legal, Ethical and Practical Considerations, International Zoo and Aquarium Science, and Extended Research Project.Accreditations: This course is endorsed by the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) and the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).Future Careers: After completing this course, students can embark on a variety of fulfilling careers.
