MSc Hydrography

The MSc Hydrography course offered by Plymouth University is state-of-the-art, preparing students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for a career in hydrography and associated disciplines. Hydrography is the key to unlocking the resource potential of the seabed. The Programme is taught by experienced staff of the internationally-renowned Hydrographic Academy and has an international reputation in the hydrography industry for more than two decades. Course Content: The full-time program includes the theoretical elements and fieldwork, combined with a dedicated summer project, ensuring that content is always at the forefront of technology and best industry practices. The course spans across a duration of one year. Key Modules: The full-time programme includes modules such as Positioning and Navigation, Acoustics and Oceanography, Data Processing and Visualization, Law, Safety and the Environment, Bathymetry and Seabed Mapping, Humans, Technology and Automation, and an Offshore Survey Field Course. Moreover, students will undertake an original student project in Hydrography. Accreditations: The course is recognised by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency as meeting the International Federation of Surveyors/International Hydrographic Organization/International Cartographic Association Category A Specifications for hydrographic surveyors. It is also accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
