The BSc (Hons) Ocean Exploration and Surveying course offered by University of Plymouth is a course designed to arm students with the knowledge and skills necessary to explore and understand the world's oceans. This multi-disciplinary course combines principles from oceanography, marine geology, marine ecology along with marine surveying and positioning, giving students an all-round understanding of our oceans and technologies to explore and map them.Course Content: The course focuses on providing a comprehensive understanding of the world's oceans; their physical, chemical and biological characteristics, geological framework, and influence on the world's climate. Alongside, students learn about marine ecological systems, marine surveying and geophysical survey methods. They also gain hands-on experience through field research and potential to have a year-long placement experience. Key Modules: Key modules include Introduction to Ocean Exploration, Physical and Chemical Oceanography, Hydrographic Applications, Geographical Information Systems for Surveyors, Marine Ecological Surveying, and Independent Research Project. Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
