BA (Hons) Geography

The BA Geography course at the University of Plymouth provides students with an innovative, exciting and comprehensive approach to studying the complexities of the modern world. They delve into the key social, political, economic, and environmental challenges and changes occurring across the globe, by focusing on integrating theoretical understanding with an ample amount of practical work. Course Content: The modules are designed to develop an understanding of key aspects of human and physical geography, introducing powerful geographical concepts and debates, and aspects of field studies. There are opportunities to study specialist themes from climate change to urbanisation, focusing on current global challenges and issues of policy relevance. Knowledge and understanding are cumulative, progressing in complexity, breadth, and depth year on year.Key Modules: Some key modules include Critical Geographies, Environment and Society, Geographical Skills and Approaches, Developing Geographical Research and Geographical Research in Practice. Accreditations: BA Geography is accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG). This degree puts students on a “pathway to professional membership of the Society, and to Chartered Geographer status."Future Careers: Graduating students can aim for careers in a wide range of fields such as environment and heritage, transport, education, government, private sector planning and design, non-governmental organisations and postgraduate research.
