BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies

The BA Early Childhood Studies at Plymouth University is a three-year, full-time degree programme. It is designed to educate students about the physical, social, and emotional development of children. The course focuses on children in the different stages of their early lives, providing a deep understanding of their needs and guiding students to be experts in children's rights, education, health, and overall well-being in diverse environments.Course Content: The course explores key areas in early childhood such as education, health, social work, and psychology. Students will have the opportunity to understand the world through a child's eyes, learn about the different factors affecting the development of children, and get the flexibility to work abroad or study a language as part of the degree.Key Modules: Some of the modules studied in the course include Child Development, Literature for Children, Creative Contexts of Early Childhood, Early Years Pedagogies, and Early Childhood in International Contexts.Accreditations: The course is recognized by the sector skills council, Skills for Care, which signifies that it meets the common induction standards for the social care workforce and the National Occupational Standards for Children's Care, Learning, and Development.
