The MA International Criminology and Security Studies is a postgraduate program offered by Hope University. This course provides an in-depth understanding of global crime issues, security, policing, and many aspects of criminal justice. The aim of the program is to provide students with a strong analytical understanding of crime, and develop critical thinking about public protection, fear of crime, and harm prevention. Course Content: The course comprises of core modules including Crime Control and Social Justice, and Transnational Crime and Security. The delivery of these subjects includes engaging methods such as lecturers delivering interactive sessions, small group projects, and online materials for individual study. The program emphasizes real-world learning where students will get involved with partners in law enforcement, criminal justice, and third sector organizations to apply their skills and knowledge.Key Modules: Key study areas the students will explore include: Social and Global Justice, Transnational Crime and Security, Crime Control and Social Justice, Research Methods, and the option to choose from either Surveillance and Security, or Hate Crime. All students will also undertake a research dissertation in a related topic of their choice.Future Careers: While the focus is not on inculcating specific vocational skills, through engaging with local, regional, national and international subject experts, students will be exposed to professional cultures, issues, policies and practice in the workplace.
