BSc (Hons) Psychology and Sociology

The Psychology and Sociology course offered by Liverpool Hope University is a combined honors degree that combines an exploration of the social and personal influences that shape our lives. Students are exposed to fundamental aspects of human behavior while considering these within the broader social and cultural contexts.Course Content: The course offers students the opportunity to examine a variety of psychological and sociological theories, research and debates. It allows students to critically evaluate the validity and utility of these in explaining real-world phenomena. Students are encouraged to consider the relationship between these two disciplines and to consider relational, cultural, historical, political and societal contexts when interpreting human behavior.Key Modules: The course covers a wide range of topics with modules including Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Psychological Research Methods, Developmental Psychology, Personality and Individual Differences, Sociological Theory, and Social Research.Accreditations: This course has been accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), granting the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the society which is an important step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.Future Careers: This course provides a good foundation to continue into postgraduate study, to train as a professional psychologist or it can lead to careers in areas such as health and social care, human resources, marketing, the police or prison service, the probation service, social work, teaching and many more.For more information on this course, please visit the official course page here.
