The MSc Applied Statistics at the University of Southampton is a full-time, one-year course aimed at developing students’ statistical knowledge and expertise. It encourages them to apply their skills to real-life statistical problems, equipping them with the techniques needed to analyse a broad range of data. Course Content: The course encompasses advanced level statistical techniques including, but not limited to, non-parametric statistics, statistical modelling, epidemiological methods, multilevel models, and advanced statistical modelling. Students will become familiar with research methods, linear regression, and multivariate data analysis. The course also includes a research component in the form of a statistical consultancy project, a pharmaceutical statistics project or a further statistics project.Key Modules: Key modules include Statistical Methods, Stochastic Models, Statistical Computing, Applied Probability, Linear Regression and Generalised Linear Models, Survival Analysis, Bayesian Methods, and Epidemiological Methods.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), providing graduates with GradStat status. Future Careers: Upon completion, students can pursue careers in roles such as statistical analysis, data science, teaching, consulting, research and within the pharmaceutical industry. This course also provides a solid foundation for students aiming to pursue a PhD in Statistics. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page here.
