The MEng Maritime Engineering degree course at the University of Southampton is dedicated to training students in the theoretical and practical aspects of maritime engineering. Through this 4-year undergraduate course, students gain specialist knowledge and skills in naval architecture, offshore engineering, marine engineering, and ocean engineering.Course Content: The course is designed to provide a strong foundation in engineering science, coupled with specialist skills related to marine vehicles, systems, and infrastructure. It includes the study of structures, materials, fluid mechanics, energy and propulsion, design, maths, and business.Key Modules: Important modules include Design and Computing, Thermofluids, Structures and Materials, Introduction to Maritime Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Systems, and Hydrodynamics, to name a few. Accreditations: The degree course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) on behalf of the Engineering Council.Future Careers: Graduates from this course have moved on to successful careers in ship design consultancies, shipowners, maritime regulatory organizations, oil, and gas companies, classification societies among others.
