Meng Civil Engineering

The MEng Civil Engineering degree at the University of Southampton is a full-time course designed to instil a thorough understanding of technical competencies, plus creativity, problem-solving and management skills. Delivered by leading professionals and internationally renowned academics, the course will provide students with the knowledge of major technology and management issues in civil engineering.Course Content: During the first two years of the course, students will cover the principles of civil engineering and develop their engineering skills. In the third year, students will work on a real-life design project with practising engineers. In the final year, students can choose specialist modules and will have the opportunity to work on an individual project.Key Modules: Core modules include Design and Computing Skills, Introduction to Materials, Structures and Mechanisms, and Engineering Mathematics. Optional modules provide an opportunity for students to delve deeper into areas of personal interest, such as Environmental Geotechnics, Coastal Engineering, and Design of Steel Structures.Accreditations: The MEng Civil Engineering course is accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), and the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE).Future Careers: Graduates can pursue a variety of roles in the civil engineering sector, such as project manager, site engineer, structural engineer, or transport consultant.
