The Physics with Industrial Placement Master of Physics (MPhys) degree course at the University of Southampton is a full-time program that is designed to provide students with both a strong theoretical foundation in physics and valuable real-world experience through an industrial placement year. This course aims to develop students' knowledge and skills in physics, allowing them to apply this in a practical work setting.Course Content: The MPhys Component starts with core and optional modules to build up your knowledge of Physics. This includes topics like quantum physics, electromagnetism, and statistical physics. In the third year, students choose from modules including quantum mechanics, nuclear physics and astrophysics and then spend their fourth year on an industrial placement. The placement incorporates a research project related to the work of the host organization.Key Modules: Some of the key modules students can choose from include Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Physics, The Physics of Fields, Theoretical Physics, Nuclear Physics, and Astrophysics. Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Institute of Physics.Future Careers: Graduates of this course have gone on to work in diverse fields such as finance, IT, education, and engineering. Many of our graduates also continue into research roles within academic and industrial research teams. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
