The University of Southampton offers a Physics with Artificial Intelligence, Master's level (MPhys) course. This course seamlessly integrates the study of artificial intelligence (AI) with physics, providing students with a profound knowledge of both these intrinsically linked fields. Machine learning is transforming physics research, and this one-of-a-kind MPhys degree will provide students with the skills to contribute to this exciting field.Course Content: The course begins with a comprehensive introduction to physics and computer science in the first year. Students then start exploring physics with artificial intelligence from the second year. They study theoretical physics and computational physics, and learn how to create AI systems. In the final year, students work on a research project, where they will use AI approaches to physics problems. The course also incorporates group design tasks, coding workshops, and problem-solving sessions. Key Modules: The modules include Quantum Mechanics, General Physics, Thermodynamics, Introduction to Python, Machine Learning, Computational Physics, and Theoretical Physics.Accreditations: Graduates from this course will be eligible for membership of the Institute of Physics (IOP).Future Careers: Graduates from the Physics with Artificial Intelligence MPhys course are highly sought after by employers.
