The BA History with Year Abroad degree at the University of Southampton focuses on preparing students through detailed historical studies while immersing them in a different culture in their third year abroad. The course covers over 2,000 years for a deeper understanding of local, national and global history.Course Content: Comprising several modules, the curriculum of the BA History with Year Abroad revolves around topics such as Hitler's Germany, Crusades, Chinese Revolutions, Gender and Society in Modern Africa, Islamic Empires, and much more. The course spans across full and part-time learning options, allowing students the freedom to focus on multiple diverse areas or concentrate on the area that interests them most.Key Modules: Some modules revolve around a 'special subject' which consists of a two-semester, in-depth study of a specific historical issue to build a solid foundation. Other modules such as 'Using the Past' help students think about how history informs current debates and policies. There are supplementary sessions to boost students’ academic skills. The third year is spent studying abroad at a partner University where students immerse themselves in the local culture.Accreditations: The degree earned is a BA (Bachelor of Arts) in History.Future Careers: Upon completion of the BA History with Year Abroad course, students work in a range of sectors. These include law, finance, the media, international agencies, civil service, teaching, librarianship, political research and analysis, and more.
