The BA Geography program at the University of Southampton is designed to stimulate students' intellectual curiosity about contemporary global problems and their origins. This degree programme provides a diverse and exciting education in human and physical geography, and qualifies students with the broader skills sought by employers in the areas of communication, problem-solving, and data analysis.Course Content: Over the three years, students are introduced to the major themes in human and physical geography and will have the opportunity to explore topics of interest in more depth. First year focuses on understanding the broader topics about the physical world, from the local to the global scale. The second year brings in more distinctive areas including Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Development Economics, Coastal and Estuarine Systems, and Urban Policy and Inequality. The final year allows students to choose from a range of optional modules and to carry out a research project.Key Modules: Compulsory modules include Earth and Ocean Systems, Transforming Cities and Economies, Living in an Unequal World and Tutorial.
